Manipur police recovers 2 arms, 34 ammunitions in last 24 hours

Amid frequent reports of violence in troubled Manipur, the Manipur police recovered two arms and nine rounds of ammunition in the last 24 hours during a search operation after reports of intermittent firing by armed miscreants at a few places in the state.

The arms were recovered after the Police and Central forces launched an operation in the Phaileng area of Manipur’s Kangpokpi District.

“Search Operation and Checking at Nakas: During the last 24(twenty-four) hours, intermittent firing by armed miscreants were reported at few places. Police and Central forces launched operation in Phaileng area, Kangpokpi District and 2 (two) arms and 9 (nine) ammunitions were recovered and the miscreants were repelled,” Manipur police wrote in a tweet.

In another search operation conducted by District Police Thoubal in the Heirok area, twelve magazines and twenty-five rounds of ammunition were recovered.

Amid the ongoing violence in Manipur, a total of 124 Nakas (checkpoints) were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hills and the valley.

The Police had detained 586 people in connection with violations in different districts of the State.

“In the search operation conducted by District Police Thoubal yesterday (15.07.2023) in Heirok area, 12 (twelve) magazines and 25 (twenty-five) ammunitions were recovered” Manipur police further wrote.
“A total of 124 Nakas/ Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police had detained 586 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the State.”
