In a major breakthrough, the Manipur Police have cracked the arms snatching case in which miscreants had stolen arms and ammunition from police personnel at Leikinthabi under Sekmai police station in Imphal West district.
As a follow-up action to the arms snatching case, the Manipur Police have arrested four police personnel and one other individual in connection with the case.
The four police personnel arrested in connection with the case have been identified as Meisnam Krishnadas, Maibam Shanjit Singh, Longjam Jayenta Singh, and Oinam Banti Singh. The other individual arrested has been identified as Mainam Bomcha.
They have been remanded into ten days of police custody for further investigation.
In a further follow-up action, the police conducted a major operation and recovered the arms and ammunition that were stolen at Sekta Awang Leikai in Imphal East.
The recovered arms and ammunition include three INSAS rifles along with three magazines, one .22 caliber rifle along with a magazine, one INSAS LMG rifle along with a magazine, two AK-56 rifles along with two magazines, 130 live ammunition rounds, 2 mobile phones, and 9 miscellaneous items including military fatigues.
It may be mentioned here that on Tuesday, unknown armed miscreants had forcibly snatched arms and ammunition rounds from police personnel at Leikinthabi under Sekmai PS, Imphal West District.
