Manipur Police Arrest 2 PREPAK Cadres, Recover Huge Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Tengnoupal

The two PREPAK cadres have been identified as-Leishangthem Napoleon Meitei (35) and Thokchom Amujao Singh (33).

Continuing with its crackdown against extortion activities, Manipur Police on Sunday arrested two cadres of the PREPAK (Progressive) militant outfit.

The two cadres were arrested from Sangaiprou Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district.

The arrested PREPAK cadres identified as-Leishangthem Napoleon Meitei (35) and Thokchom Amujao Singh (33) were involved in extortion activities in the area.

Police also recovered 3 mobile handsets 12 extortion demand letters and a 4-wheeler from their possession.

On Friday, police recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Saivom Village areas in Tengnoupal district.

The recovered items include–two .303 rifles with two magazines, one 12 bore single barrel gun (Country made), one pompi gun (Country made), seven IEDs (big and medium), five hand grenades, 5 pompi ammunition, forty detonators, sixty live rounds of ammunition, three mine detonators and one motorola radio set.

These arms and ammunition were recovered during search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.
