Manipur Landslide Tragedy: 56 bodies recovered, 5 still missing

56 bodies have been recovered so far from the landslide site, while 5 others are still missing.

Rescue workers have recovered one more body at the Tupul landslide tragedy site in Manipur’s Noney District.

As per reports, the body is said to be of a local woman who runs a shop at the site.

Locals believe that the body is that of Thuisinluy Gondonmei.

It needs to be mentioned here that, with today’s recovery, 56 bodies have been recovered so far from the landslide site, while 5 others are still missing.

Meanwhile, most of the victims of the landslide are laborers and personnel of the 107th infantry battalion of the Territorial Army.

Heavy and incessant rains have hindered the rescue operations in the landslide-hit area.

Notably, a multi-agency search and rescue operation involving the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, Territorial Army, SDRF, and NDRF is underway at the tragedy struck Tupul area in the Noney district of Manipur.
