Manipur: Kuki community in Saikul supports CM Singh’s war on drugs 2.0

Chief Minister Biren Singh reiterated that strict actions will be taken against police personnel involved in drug activities.

In a big boost to Chief Minister Biren Singh’s War on Drugs 2.0, the Kuki community from Saikul assembly constituency has come out in support of the Chief Minister, taking a resolution to put a stop to poppy cultivation in Manipur’s Saikul.

Kuki Village Chiefs from Saikul assembly constituency under Kangpokpi district, together with Saikul MLA Kimneo Haokip met with the Chief Minister in Imphal today to submit their resolution. While resolving to put a halt to poppy cultivation in their jurisdiction, the Village Chiefs also request the Chief Minister to provide alternative crops for the poppy farmers.

Chief Minister Biren Singh also added that from across the Kuki Community residing in the state, village chiefs from Saikul are the first ones to come forward extending support to the War on Drugs.

Recently in the state, Poumai, Tangkhul, as well as Inpui, Liangmei, Ziangmei and Rongmei communities have taken a pledge to support the state government’s War on Drugs.

Chief Minister Biren Singh has also appealed to civil society organizations and local clubs across the valley district to come forward in fighting the drug menace in the states.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Biren Singh reiterated that strict actions will be taken against police personnel involved in drug activities.
