Manipur: Huge Cache of Arms and Ammunition Recovered in Imphal West

These arms and ammunition were recovered during search operations by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

The Manipur Police have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Imphal West district today.

The recovered items include– Two 9 mm pistol with two magazines, one carbine with magazine, one .303 Rifle modified as sniper with scope sight, three single barrel gun, twelve 9mm ammunition, two single barrel ammunition, four hand grenades, one baofeng wireless set one smoke grenade.

These arms and ammunition were recovered during search operations and area domination conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts.

On Monday, troopers of the Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police conducted search operations at Thingphai, TS Laijang and Changpol Khengjoi villages in Chandel district and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition including China and US-made rifles in Chandel district.

The recovered items include–a US-made M16 rifle, one type 81 chinese assault rifle along with three magazines, one AK-56 rifle, an M16 rifle magazine, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), two high-powered assault rifles, motorola communication sets with chargers, 5.56 mm ammunition rounds, locally made lathod guns, pompi and lathod bombs.

The security personnel also recovered a concealed hideout of the armed groups at TS Laijang village.
