Continuing the war on drugs in Manipur, Commando teams of Kakching Police on Thursday while carrying out frisking and checking at Pallel CDO Check-Post, recovered over 232 grams of Heroin powder, and arrested a drug peddler.
The team signaled a vehicle coming from Pallel to stop for checking, but the occupant tried to escape by speeding the vehicle. However, the CDO teams managed to stop the vehicle, upon checking 20 soap cases containing suspected Heroin No.4 powder were hidden below the rear seat of the vehicle. The accused was arrested.
On weighing, the suspected Heroin powder was found to weigh approximately 232 grams. It is estimated that the seized contraband items are worth approximately Rs. 4.64 lakhs in domestic market and Rs. 46.4 lakhs in the International Market respectively.
The arrested person along with the seized articles was later handed over to Kakching Police for taking up further necessary legal action.
In a similar operation, Imphal East Police seized over 67 thousand tablets of SP capsules, 350 WY tablets, 115 N10 tablets and 135 grams of heroin powder and arrested a drug dealer on Thursday.
