A sizeable turnout was witnessed in the second and final phase of polling on a day of Manipur Assembly Elections, marred by violence in several polling booths leading to the death of one person.
The voters’ turnout was 76.62% till 5 pm with the highest polling percentage registered in 48-Mao Assembly constituency with 86.78% polling, followed by 38-Hiyanglam AC with 86.31%, while 52-Tamei Assembly constituency witnessed the lowest voting percentage of 61.23% till 5 PM.

Meanwhile, as per the release from CEO’s office Manipur, 12 incidents of damage to EVMs by miscreants were reported under the 42-Tengnoupal Assembly constituency.

3 incidents of damage to EVMs were reported from Ukhrul, 3 in Chingai, and 1 each in Tadubi and Karong.

The incident under Karong Assembly Constituency got escalated leading to serious injuries to two persons, who were immediately evacuated by chopper to Imphal for treatment. However, one of them succumbed on the way, the EC release said.
