Manipur custodial torture row: CM N Biren meets Joint Action Committee
Nanao, a goldsmith by profession, passed away at RIMS in the evening, leading to protests. Alleged injury marks were also seen on his body.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh held a crucial meeting with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed to seek justice for Arambam Nanao who died following custodial torture in Imphal.
It is not yet known what transpired in this meeting.
It may be mentioned here that 38-year-old Arambam Nanao from Sagolband Kangabam Leikai was picked up by a police team comprising sub-inspector Th Jitendro from his residence on the morning of May 2.
Nanao, who was released later in the afternoon the same day had to be rushed to RIMS after he collapsed.

As per inputs, a complaint was lodged by an unknown person that Nanao had borrowed a certain amount of money from him and failed to return the same.
