It is to be mentioned that on January 16, a combined team of District Commando Kakching and Pallel police seized a huge amount of heroin powder and WY drugs worth Rs 3.35 crore and arrested five commando personnel along NH-102 (Imphal-Moreh).

In response to a state Congress demand, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said that it is not the first time that state police are involved.

The Chief Minister reminded that during the previous government rule, as many as 28 drugs-related cases were counted from 2012 to 2016 in which state police were involved.

The investigation into the Pallel drugs case is underway.
