A day after Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh affirmed that his government will not spare anyone involved in criminal activities, he chaired an all important meeting today to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the state.

He said, “Chaired a security meeting with the top police officials, Assam Rifles and other security officials at my secretariat office today. The meeting emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to tackle the evolving security situation in Manipur.”

It was only yesterday (Thursday) when the Manipur Chief Minister appealed all sections of the society to abjure violence and embrace peace, prosperity, while launching the permanent Housing Scheme for the displaced persons whose houses had been burnt down and damaged during the recent violence.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh during his address on the occasion mentioned that the Government is monitoring all activities taking place in the State. He stated the government would not remain as mere spectator to any crimes committed by anyone and urged the people to refrain from violence and bring up their grievances so that it could be solved through constitutional measures.

Besides, N Biren Singh also appealed to the public to join hands and cooperate in the Government’s effort to restore peace in the State.

On October 29, N Biren Singh had informed that his government was closely working with the Centre to bring permanent peace after violence erupted since May 3.

According to the Chief Minister, the crisis evolved out of the government’s efforts to save the forest cover as well as its decision to wage a war against drugs and poppy cultivation. N Biren Singh said the situation was also an outcome of actions initiated by his government against the illegal migrants.
