Manipur celebrates ‘N’JanghiHangi’ – feast of Brides
N'janghihangi is a festival which celebrates the bond of love between the married daughters and her paternal families.
People of Tumuyo Khullen village in Senapati District of Manipur celebrated N’Janghi Hangi which roughly translates as feast of the brides, at its village community hall.
An annual event, the day marks one of the major festivals of the community where parents invite their newly married daughters to their paternal home for a ceremonial feast.
The festival was graced by K Raisong, President, Maram Union as the chief guest and Laishram Manikanta Singh, ADM, Kangpokpi as special guest.
PouRangkareipa, the oldest citizen blessed the newly married daughters of the village through prayer and a special gift was also presented to each of them during the program.
N’janghihangi is a festival which celebrates the bond of love between the married daughters and her paternal families. The festival is celebrated for three days.
Meanwhile, Maram folk fusion, cultural dance by Tumuyon Khullen dance troupe, Rice pounding show and folk song competition added flavour to the festival.
