The incident happened at Peniel village in Churachandpur district after the protest rally that was taken out earlier today.
Manipur BJP spokesperson and Thadou tribe leader T Michael Lamjathang Haokip’s parents’ house was vandalised and set on fire by unknown miscreants in Churachandpur district on Saturday.
This was the third attack at his house since the ethnic violence began in May 2023.
The incident happened at Peniel village in Churachandpur district after the protest rally that was earlier taken out today.
Haokip took to social media platform X where he shared the photos of his parents’ house and called it a third attack on him and his family. Haokip said, “3rd attack – Phatthei In (Blessed Home) – Mom and Dad’s residence in Peniel village, Manipur by ultra Kuki supremacists and extremist groups. Any of my actions shouldn’t have been combined with my parents and families.”

“I will not stop to stand for justice, truth and non-violence,” he added.
“The burning of my home will not make me disown my Thadou identity. Pure Thadou, who disowns Kuki, segregation games from ultra Kuki extremists and supremacists begin; follow me or not. We begins,” Haokip further added.

Noteworthy to mention that Haokip’s own residence was attacked by unknown miscreants on August 25.
Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has strongly condemned the arson attack.
The Chief Minister said that repeated targeting of people under the guise of peace rallies is troubling trend. He added that such acts of provocations will not be tolerated and will ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Action will be taken against concerned officials who failed to provide adequate security despite prior warnings of potential threats.
