Manipur bagged four gold medals two silver and two bronze medals on the third day of the ongoing 36 National Games in Gujarat on Sunday.

With this Manipur now stands at 6 positions in the medal tally with 6 golds, 3 silver, and bronze medals.

Laitonjam Ronaldo Singh won the gold medal in the men’s 1 km time trial, while Bindyaruni Devi Sorokhaibam won the gold medal in the women’s 59 kg weight category.

Bindyrani lifted 194 kg in total, 83 kg in snatch, and 111 kg in clean jerk.

The second position in women’s 59 kg weightlifting was won by Popy Hazarika of Assam, while the third place was won by Davinder Kaur of Punjab.

The second silver medal of the state was secured by cyclist M Sonali Chanu in the women’s 500-metre time trial race while the bronze was bagged by T Manorama Devi in the women’s 10 km stretch race.

Weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Channu won Manipur’s first gold medal in the women’s 49 kg weightlifting competition on the second day of competition on Friday.

With more than 300 athletes, coaches and officials, Manipur is participating in 21 sports disciplines in the 36 National Games in Gujarat beginning from September 29 to October 12.
