Manipur all set to get new planetarium in Churachandpur

Commissioner of Science and Technology, Devesh on Friday inspected progress of the construction of District Science Centre and Planetarium which started, in 2018 under the Manipur Tribal Development Council.

The science centre is being constructed at a project cost of Rs 3.9 crore. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown and its accompanying problems, progress of the work had been slowed but the pace of the work has picked up pace to ensure completion of the civil work within the next 2-3 months.

Devesh, during his interaction with media persons stated that there are two parts – one is the construction of civil works and other is the installation of machineries by a specialised body, National Council of Science Museum based in Kolkata. He informed that the civil works will be completed soon and it will be followed by installation of all machineries to make it a science centre.
The science centre has components like planetarium, science museum, computer training centre, 3D theatre, to name a few.
