Manipur: 10-year-old raped in Churachandpur

Earlier, a 9-year-old girl was found dead in Churachandpur on March 20. She was suspected to have been raped and murdered.
A 10-year-old girl was raped in Churachandpur district of Manipur on April 4.
As per sources, the accused has been arrested, though the police have not disclosed his identity.
The Zomi Mothers Association (ZMA) condemned the incident in strongest of terms and said that the society is no longer safe.
The association called on the responsible citizens to unite and root out such evils.
It demanded the most stringent punishment for the accused and warned that merely keeping perpetrators in judicial custody could provoke public outrage and disturb law and order.
The Zo Women’s group also issued a condemnation, stating they can no longer tolerate repeated crimes against minors.
They stressed the urgent need to protect young girls and called for strict and exemplary legal action.
Earlier, a 9-year-old girl was found dead inside the Lanva TD Block Relief Camp, Churachandpur at midnight on March 20. She was suspected to have been raped and murdered.
