Govt of Manipur and Govt of India are together doing their best to tackle the situation and bring normalcy to the state, CM Singh said addressing the media today
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has made an earnest appeal to the people of the state to shun violence and give peace a chance. The Chief Minister appealed to the people to have faith in the state government and the Centre and said that together, the Central and the state government are doing their best to restore peace and normalcy in the state. Stating that some splinter groups were indulging in acts of violence, the CM assured that his government would protect every single civilian of the state.
“Jo ho gaya so ho gaya. Give peace a chance. Many children are not getting proper education, proper healthcare. People are suffering a lot because of the present crisis. How the people are suffering. My earnest request to the people of the state, give a chance to peace. Please trust. Have confidence on Government of Manipur and Government of India. Government of Manipur and Government of India are together doing their best to tackle the situation and bring normalcy back to the state,” CM Singh said even as reports of firing came in today. The state was peaceful for the last 48 hours.
When asked about the unending violence despite deployment of heavy security forces and efforts to reign in SoO cadres, the CM said that some splinter groups are involved in attacks on civilians. He reiterated the government’s stand against those indulging in acts of violence and said the 40,000 security forces on the ground is already tasting success but, “some splinter groups who claim that they are not under SoO, that type of armed terrorist groups are existing in the state. We cannot deny it. My assurance from the Government of Manipur is that we will definitely protect our civilians from such militant activities. I am appealing to the people of my state to calm down and stay inside their homes”.
He also cautioned that since the government offices already started functioning in full swing, the government will start “no work, no pay” system. For those government employees who face difficulties in attending offices either in Imphal or other districts, they can work through “e-office” system as the state government already implementing it.
The CM informed that the Manipur Cabinet has decided to issue identity cards and other government documents to people who either lost them or they got burnt during the violence after proper verification.
