INDI Bloc delegation meets Manipur Governor, expresses concern over prolonged unrest

In a significant move, leaders of the INDI Alliance in Manipur, including newly elected MP Bimol Akoijam, CLP Leader Okram Ibobi, and MPCC President K Meghachandra, called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey to express concern over the recent violence in Jiribam and the internal displacement of around 1000 more people.

The INDI Bloc delegation conveyed its disappointment over the prolonged crisis in the state.

The INDI Bloc delegation, especially, raised concern over the volatile situation in Jiribam which witnessed violence earlier this month.

While speaking to Northeast Live, MPCC President K Meghachandra said, “From INDIA Bloc, we have submitted memorandum to Governor. In memorandum we reported that the people of Manipur are in a very bad situation. We also reported about the fresh eruption of violence in Jiribam district.”

He emphasized that the alliance leaders brought attention to the ongoing highway blockades and the severe hardships endured by thousands of internally displaced people residing in relief camps across the state.

“We also expressed the dissatisfaction towards the state and centre government. The Governor narrated about the meetings of the central government. We sought immediate solutions to the violence and peace be brought in the state,” the MPCC President added.

The delegation also expressed concern over the attack on the CM’s advance convoy stating that such attacks on security personnel pose a serious challenge.

The delegation demanded the deployment of state security personnel in villages in Jiribam district from where villagers have fled out of fear.

The delegation also demanded that the government should ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic along NH-37 and NH-2.
