‘Ima’s of Manipur welcome CM N Biren’s peace push, asks for a sincere approach

Imas or mothers of Manipur have welcomed the appeal made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh to support the Government’s move in holding dialogues with proscribed outfits and bringing them

Imas or mothers of Manipur have welcomed the appeal made by Chief Minister N Biren Singh to support the Government’s move in holding dialogues with proscribed outfits and bringing them to mainstream.

Chief Minister N Biren had yesterday said that ending insurgency in Manipur is of utmost priority and there is need for public support, particularly the backing of the Imas for the same.

The Chief Minister made the appeal at the reception organised for him and his council of ministers at Ima market yesteday.
On that note, Northeast Live caught up with some of the IMAs to know more on their opinion with regard to the Chief Minister’s appeal. They said that while it was a decisive step taken by the Chief Minister to ask for public support in bringing insurgent outfits to the negotiation table, the government will still have to play a bigger and sincere role so as to ensure peace talks are fruitful.
