Model and actress from Nagaland Carol Andrea Kevichusa strongly condemned the ongoing violence in Manipur and appealed for peace.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Kevichusa said that it was time for the Centre and state government to step up efforts for restoring peace.

She said ” It is very heartbreaking to see people losing their homes, lives from both sides. I hope that the leaders of the country and the state come together for peace soon.”

Earlier, actors Lin Laishram and Bijou Thaangjam from Manipur also condemned the violence going on in their home state and appealed for peace.

On June 17, Thaangjam Lin Laishram, among others, led a peaceful protest to draw attention to the grave situation the state is in.

Thaangjam has also been constantly posting Instagram stories, seeking support and spreading awareness on the matter.

Lin Laishram has earlier questioned Bollywood’s silence on the situation in Manipur.

Even one post from a celebrity would help her gain a lot of support, but sadly, no one has yet done any such thing, the actor who has starred in Bollywood films like Om Shanti Om, Axone and Mary Kom said.

Richa Chadha turned out to be the first in the industry to express concern about the ongoing violence in Manipur.

On June 12, taking on Twitter, Richa shared a post of Bijou Thaangjam and captioned it as “Manipur is burning!”

Manipur has been on the boil for almost two months now since violent clashes broke out between two communities in the state on May 3.
