Government doctors demand that the government fulfils their 8 demands at earliest. Agitating doctors stage protest at IMA complex.

Government appointed doctors in Manipur today staged a sit in demonstration over the alleged delay by the state government in fulfilling their 8 primary demands.

Doctors under the banner of All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association staged protest at the Indian Medical Association (IMA) complex at Lamphelpat in Imphal West.

Speaking to Northeast Live, general secretary of All Manipur Health Services Doctors’ Association, Lolee P. Mao lamented that there have been no major amendments to the Manipur Health Services Rules since 1982. According to Lolee, this has caused a lot of inconveniences for the doctors.

He further contended that the doctors have been deprived of promotion avenues by the government.

Besides, AMHSDA general secretary Lolee. P Mao also questioned as to why the government discontinued enhancement of superannuation to 65 years after implementing the same for almost 3 years since 2017.

Meanwhile, the AMHSDA general secretary maintained that the doctors took to protest since their demands still remains to be fulfilled despite the October 30 ultimatum set to the N. Biren Singh government.
