CM N Biren Singh also said that the arrest of Seiminlun Gangte by the NIA yesterday has exposed transnational conspiracy in the Manipur unrest

In a big breakthrough, four persons have been arrested in connection with the deaths of two students in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed on Sunday.

Speaking to the media, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said, “Today the CBI, along with the support of the Indian Army, paramilitary forces, Assam rifles, and state police, have arrested four accused in connection to the killing of two students from Henglep in Churachandpur. I want to thank the NIA, CBI, and all paramilitary forces, including the Indian Army and Assam rifles.”

In X, the CM wrote, “I’m pleased to share that some of the main culprits responsible for the abduction and murder of Phijam Hemanjit and Hijam Linthoingambi have been arrested from Churachandpur today.

As the saying goes, one may abscond after committing the crime, but they cannot escape the long hands of the law. We are committed to ensuring maximum punishment, including capital punishment, for the heinous crime they have committed.”

Both Hijam Linthoingambi and Phijam Hemanjit of Imphal West went missing on July 6 after they left home for a coaching center at Keishampat.

But soon after N. Biren Singh lifted the ban on the internet, pictures showing the teens dead in an unknown location went viral.

CM N Biren Singh also said that the arrest of Seiminlun Gangte by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) yesterday has exposed transnational conspiracy in the Manipur unrest.

“After the NIA took over this case, it gave a press release yesterday that the incident in Manipur is waging war against the Indian Union by the Kuki militants from Myanmar and Bangladesh, along with some militants from India. It clearly shows that this is not a small thing. I want to thank the NIA, the Govt. of India, the people of Manipur, and especially PM Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah,” CM Biren said.

Further, the Chief Minister informed that no written order has been issued for the implementation of Article 355 in Manipur.

According to Article 355 of the Indian Constitution, it shall be the duty of the Union to protect every state against external aggression and internal disturbance and to ensure that the government of every state is carried on in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.
