With Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s ‘Surrender or face Consequences’ ultimatum to drug peddlers, Manipur police have doubled up the crackdown on the drug menace in the state.
On Wednesday, in three separate frisking operations, contraband worth over 14 crores were seized from Tengnoupal district. Moreover, police also arrested four drug peddlers.

55 soap cases containing suspected Brown Sugar and 3 bundles wrapped in black plastic packets containing suspected WY tablets were seized from 2 drug peddlers while checking vehicles from Moreh to Imphal. The contraband was estimated to be worth over 5 crores.
Earlier in the day contraband worth 3 crores were seized from Tengnoupal Police Check Post, 10 Packets of WY Tablets were also recovered from the peddler.
Tengnoupal police also recovered 268 packets of suspected Heroin powder weighing over 3 kilograms during another frisking operation. The drugs are estimated to be worth over 6.43 crore. Police have also arrested the peddler.
