Board of Secondary Education Manipur dismisses HSLC Exam English question paper leak

The Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) has dismissed the allegations regarding the question paper leak raised by the Manipur Youth and Students’ Union (MYSU) on the English subject for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination.

The Manipur Youth and Students’ Union (MYSU) on Thursday raised concern about question paper leak in English subjects after several notes were found at the Khangabok Higher Secondary School exam centre where the answers were written in the same series as per the question paper of the English subject.

Board of Secondary Education Manipur secretary, Mangijao said that according to complaints by MYSU, an investigation was launched by the Board officials where a package containing micro notes and answers was found inside the school campus at around 11 am, two hours after the commencement of the examination.

As such, the Board negated the possibility of question leakage since question leakage is supposed to happen before the exam.

“As the question paper was opened at 9 am at every examination center, I think the leakage of question is not reasonable because Manipur Youth and Students’ Union (MYSU) reported that bag containing some examination-related material was detected at 11 am whereas question was opened at 9 am. So that is a difference of 2 hours. So it is not acceptable that there is leakage of question” BOSEM secretary added.
The school authorities have been instructed and the cooperation of police sought to ensure that such incidents do not recur, BOSEM secretary further added.

Regarding complaints of mass copying in some schools, he stated that inspection teams will be assigned to check and prevent mass copying in the HSLC exams.

For every subject we will be sending different inspection teams, he added.

The examination for English subject was held on March 16.
