Assam Chief Minister, NEDA convenor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP’s) top strategist for Northeast Himanta Biswa Sarma has also taken campaigning by storm in Manipur.
During his visit, Chief Minister Sarma attended a flag hoisting ceremony at the residence of L. Susindro Meitei, the BJP candidate from Khurai Assembly Constituency in Imphal east.
Addressing a gathering at Khurai, Chief Minister Sarma exuded confidence of a clean sweep for BJP in the ensuing elections.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also attended the flag hoisting ceremony of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh at his home constituency in Heingang this morning.
Several other dignitaries including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, Manipur BJP in-charge Sambit Patra, Assam Minister Ashok Singhal and others were also present in the ceremony.
Worth mentioning is that flag hoisting has been a traditional and most popular way of campaigning in Manipur.
The ceremony is very important as it marks the beginning of campaigning for candidates in the state.
Manipur will go for polls in two phases. The first phase will be held on February 28 and the second on March 5.
The vote counting will take place on March 10.
