Arambai Tenggol Deposit Arms at 1st Manipur Rifle Camp

The move comes two days after a crucial meeting between the group’s leadership and Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on February 25.

In a landmark development, members of the Meitei group Arambai Tenggol deposited arms and ammunition at the 1st Manipur Rifle Camp in Imphal today signalling a significant shift in the security dynamics of the state.

The move comes two days after a crucial meeting between the group’s leadership and Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on February 25.

This follows the Governor’s request for the deposit of all illegal arms and ammunition.
While reports suggest that Arambai Tenggol had set certain conditions for compliance, the specifics of these terms remain undisclosed.

The Arambai Tenggol on February 25 submitted a memorandum to Bhalla demanding fencing of the border with Myanmar, implementation of the NRC with 1951 as the cut-off, deportation of ‘illegal immigrants’, abrogation of the agreement for the Suspension of Operations against Kuki outfits and ST status for Meiteis.
