With at least 1.5 lakh Manipur youth affected by drugs, Chief Minister N Biren Singh has vowed to continue his war on drugs stating that he has a responsibility to protect the country from the scourge of drugs.
CM N Biren Singh emphasized that this crisis is exacerbated by illegal immigration from Myanmar. He pointed out that these immigrants are not only entering India unlawfully but are also contributing to the destruction of local youth through involvement in drug trafficking and related activities.
“As the gatekeeper of our nation’s eastern border, adjacent to the infamous Golden Triangle (Dead Triangle)—one of the world’s most notorious drug trade routes—I have a responsibility to protect our country from the scourge of drugs. With about 1.5 lakh youths affected by drugs in Manipur alone, this battle is more urgent than ever. Illegal immigrants from Myanmar are not only crossing into India unlawfully but are also contributing to the destruction of our youth,” CM N Biren Singh tweeted.
The Chief Minister said that he will continue his fight against drugs and further intensify it under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He urged the nation to wake up and join the Manipur government’s fight against drugs to safeguard the future of Manipur as well as the entire nation.
“My fight against drugs will continue and intensify under the guidance of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji and Hon’ble HM Shri
@AmitShah Ji. I urge the nation to wake up and join me in this critical battle to safeguard our future,” his tweet read.
