Even before the first vote has been cast in the Manipur polls slated for February 27 and March 3rd it seems the fear of defections is already chasing the Congress Party.
Congress candidates in Manipur today took oath not to desert the party once results are declared.
Ahead of the assembly elections, all the 54 Congress candidates headed by CLP leader and former CM of Okram Ibobi Singh took a joint pledge not to defect to other parties after election.
All Candidates, including those from Hill districts, took the pledge jointly against defection at religious places across the state. The Congress has been rocked by desertions in the run up to the polls and is doing all it can to retain its current flock of leaders.
