Manipur has launched a massive war against poppy, wherein a mass destruction of poppy crops was carried out at four different hill slopes on the periphery of Wilong Village in Senapati district of Manipur.

As a part of the mission “War against Drugs” undertaken by the state government, a huge tract of poppy crop, spread over 50 acres of land and worth Rs. 3 crores in market value was taken down at around 130 km north west of Imphal.

Deputy Commisioner Senapati Amthem Moivah took it upon himself to supervise the mission which started from 11 AM and lasted for about 5 hours. The team of North East Live after travelling for 130 km and scaling around 3 km of stiff slopes bringing you this ground zero report on the mission “War Against Drugs”.
