Union Minister for Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju today urged the Northeast states to resolve the border disputes amicably. Interacting with media persons during his Shillong visit today, Rijiju said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have always pushed for peaceful settlement of issues.

The Union minister said that it is the duty of the respective state governments to ensure that peace prevails at any cost. Rijiju’s statement comes at a time when Assam is in talks with Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal and Mizoram to resolve the inter-state border issue.
Rijiju maintained that the Centre has provided an appropriate platform to chief ministers of all Northeastern states to resolve the boundary issues. The union minister said that visible signs are coming up with the Centre holding talks with the respective Chief Ministers of states having boundary issues.

In the past few months, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma have moved ahead decisively to solve the interstate border issue especially with Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and others. Among the three Assam is on the verge of a solution to its interstate border issue with Meghalaya with both Chief Ministers submitting the recommendations of its regional committees to the Union Home
