Parts of Northeast are set to experience some intense rainfall activity over the next four to five days, as heavy showers have been forecast across the region as per the Indian Meteorological Department.

Fairly widespread or widespread rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, are very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim during next five days.

According to the IMD, isolated heavy rainfall is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya during the next five days.

Thunder squall with wind speeds reaching 50-60 kilometers per hour and hailstorm at isolated places are also very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim on Tuesday the Department stated.

It is also to be mentioned that the northeast region has been experiencing heavy rain along with terrific strong winds since the previous week.

The rain and gusty wind have been causing extreme damage in some areas by uprooting trees and destroying houses, shops and other establishment.
