Heavy rains, hail storm lash Northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya

Inclement weather will continue across the Northeast as heavy rainfall and storm lashed many parts including Meghalaya and Assam on Thursday.
Traffic along the Guwahati-Shillong route or NH-47 was disrupted after heavy hailstorm near Umiam area. Several trees were uprooted after the heavy downpour blocking the highway for some time.
Not only the highway, but the heavy downpour has also caused damaged on the outskirts of Shillong.
The heavy hailstorm at Mawiong led to uprooting of trees. Besides, the windshields of vehicles were also damaged during the storm.
The extent of damage is being assessed by the district administration.
Assam also has witnessed heavy rain and storm in several parts across the state. Strong winds and rains were witnessed in Barpeta district leading to property damage.
Similar situations were witnessed in Dudhnoi and Bilasipara in Assam.
