Floods, landslides batter Arunachal Pradesh: 4 lives lost so far

Arunachal Pradesh has been battered by heavy floods and landslides with the onset of monsoon since June 10.

The situation is alarming in 16 districts out of the 26 districts. As per information shared by the Disaster Management Authority 4 human lives have been lost in Upper Siang district.

The most affected districts are- Itanagar Capital Region, KurungKumey, West Kameng, Anjaw, Longding, Upper Subansiri, Tawang, Upper Siang, Shi Yomi, West Siang, East Siang, Papumpare, Longding, Lower Dibang Valley, Kamle, Lohit.

A total of 14350 people- 12,000 in East Siang, 2000 in East Siang and 350 in Papum Pare have been affected in 34 villages.

The floods have damaged 17 houses 5 fully and 12 partially in Upper Siang district.

19 roads, 7 bridges, 2 government buildings, 5 power lines have been damaged due to floods.

The MeT department has predicted more rainfall accompanied by thunderstorm in the frontier state till June 22.

19 incidents of landslide have been reported in the state till yesterday.
