A 13 member delegation comprising of family members of Khalistani sympathizer Amritpal Singh and his associates has arrived in Dibrugarh to meet them at the Dibrugarh Central jail. As per inputs, Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh is also said to be part of the delegation.
In order to arrange a meeting between Amritpal and his associates and their family members, advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, a member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also come to Dibrugarh.
Worth mentioning that, Khalistani sympathiser and Waris Punjab De chief, Amritpal Singh was arrested on April 23 and bought to Dibrugarh Central jail in Assam the same day. Amritpal was arrested after evading the police for over a month since March 18.
Nine close aides of Amritpal Singh are already lodged at the same jail under the National Security Act. They are–Harjeet Singh (Amritpal’s uncle), Daljit Singh Kalsi, Varinder Singh Johal, Papalpreet Singh, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Basant Singh, Bhagwant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.
The visit of Amritpal Singh’s family to Dibrugarh assumes significance since they had cried foul over his arrest and affirmed that they would fight the legal battle. Amritpal’s family had also claimed that he was being targetted due to his anti-drugs mission.
