A central team will be coming to Dima Hasao on May 27 for a disaster assessment. This was informed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma who is currently in Dima Hasao where he is inspecting the damages caused by the floods.
Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Sarma also highlighted that the infrastructure built in Dima Hasao in the past few years have been damaged by the floods and landslides, and the government will soon be starting the reconstruction work in the hill district. Further, the Assam Chief Minister said that the cabinet will discuss funds after the assessment is made by the central team.
Chief Minister Sarma added that while assistance has been provided to those affected, the government is trying to provide more aid to them.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Sarma is being accompanied by top officials including Dima Hasao DC Nazreen Ahmed. Cabinet ministers Jogen Mohan and Bimal Bora are already camping in Dima Hasao.
Notably, Dima Hasao has been topped the list of worst-affected districts of the state registering at least 3 deaths. Several areas, particularly the New Haflong station has been in shambles post the floods. The district administration, on its part, has been working round the clock to bring back normalcy in the district.
During his visit, Chief Minister Sarma also met the kin of the deceased persons, and others who have been affected.
