Assamese sign language will soon be a reality soon. This was announced by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Amingaon today. He was speaking at a program held on the occasion of International Day of Persons With Disability at Kumar Bhaskar Verma Kshetra, Amingaon today.
“Assamese Sign Language will be developed in line with Indian Sign Language,” he wrote on Twitter. The Assam Chief Minister also made several key announcements pertaining to the welfare of the Divyangans in the state.
A separate directorate – Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment will also be created in the state to expedite socio-economic and academic empowerment of the specially-abled people.
The Deaf & Dumb School, in Guwahati’s Kahilipara & Blind School located at Basistha will also be upgraded to the Higher Secondary level.
He also made an important decision to help in the academic and professional developments 4% reservations at the job and admissions at medical colleges were some of the key announcements made by the Assam Chief Minister at today’s program.
