Bengaluru autorickshaw driver arrested for harassing and threatening Rapido driver from Northeast

The Bengaluru police on Saturday (March 12) arrested a autorickshaw driver for allegedly harassing and threatening a Rapido driver who hails from Northeast.

The autorickshaw driver smashed one of the bike taxi driver’s halmet he was carrying for his passengers and warned him of serious repercussions.

The incident reportedly took place earlier this week near the Indiranagar metro station in Bengaluru.

In a viral video that was shot by an eye witness and shared on Twitter, the auto driver was seen stopping the Rapido driver and smashed one of the helmets he was carrying for his passengers. He said that people from a different nation started coming in Bengaluru and operating these illegal two-wheeler taxis. The auto drivers are losing their customers because of these people. However, the Rapido driver did not retaliate to the abuses.

The video received multiple responses from the users taking a shot at the unfriendly auto driver.

After the video gone viral, the state police acted promptly and registered a case against him.

Bheema Shankar S, the deputy commissioner of police, Bengaluru (East) said, “We registered the case when this video was posted, and after good efforts by @indiranagaraps, this auto driver was identified and arrested for this crime.”

Moreover, Bengaluru police commissioner Pratap Reddy also said that people who discriminate against the people from another state who are living in the city will face harsh punishment.
