Yesterday the convoy of Sikkim Democratic Front president and former Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was attacked allegedly by supporters of the ruling SKM near the state legislative Assembly premises.

As per inputs, stones were hurled at Chamling’s convoy as the former Chief Minister went to the Assembly on the first day of the Budget session after a gap of almost three years.

As such, SDF supporters had come to see him off till the Assembly. However, Chamling’s convoy was attacked while he was returning from Assembly premises.

Later, when SDF supporters were on their way to the Sadar police station in Gangtok, they were attacked.

Among those who came under attack were the party’s Youth Convener Rajesh Walling Rai.

He along with some party supporters received injuries during the attack and were taken to New STNM Hospital in Gangtok.
