Further probe into the matter is underway

Mystery shrouds the disappearance of a youth in Guwahati after his 2-wheeler was found abandoned on the Saraighat bridge today. It is feared that the person might have jumped into the Brahmaputra river. A pair of slippers along with the scooter was recovered by the police from a point of the bridge where the missing youth is suspected to have jumped into the river.
A name, Krishna Gupta, was found written in the scooter with a mobile number mentioned below it. Sources said that the individual hails from the Fatasil Ambari area in the city. The river police carried out search and rescue operations but were unable to trace the person.
This is not the first case where an individual has gone missing from the bridge raising suspicion that it might be an outcome of resorting to the harsh step.
Earlier in September, a lady police personnel posted at the Paltan Bazar Police Station in Guwahati, had gone missing. It is suspected that she might have ender her life by jumping off the Saraighat Bridge into the Brahmaputra river in Guwahati.
In May this year, a man died by suicide by jumping off the bridge.
