In a tragic incident, a young singer in Assam suddenly passed away after taking ill while performing in a Naamghar.
The singer identified as Tejaswita Barua had gone to the Dariyagaon Naamghar in Majuli to perform on the occasion of Srimanta Sankardev’s birth anniversary yesterday.
During the performance, Tejaswita complained of uneasiness and ill health. Her performance was stopped midway after which she was rushed to the Garmur Civil Hospital where the doctors declared her to be brought dead.
Meanwhile, the superintendent of the hospital has been suspended as there are allegations that there was negligence on part of the doctors in the hospital which may have contributed to her death.
The hospital superintendent Amulya Goswami has been suspended in this regard by the health department.
Tejwasita was an upcoming singer in Assam and had been performing at various Durga Puja functions during the last few days.
Her sudden death with blame now being put on the hospital authorities has come as a shock to many. The cause of her death is yet to be ascertained.
