Yaba tablets worth Rs 50 crore seized; Assam Police intensifies ops after CM’s directive

The Assam Police has intensified the crackdown on drugs following strict directives by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to put an end to the menace. Acting on specific inputs, a joint team of Dholai Police station and CRPF launched a massive operation to zero in on a consignment of drugs supposed to be smuggled to another state.
Accordingly, the forces intercepted a truck (AS 25 DC 1582) at a checkpost and upon frisking the vehicle, recovered a consignment of 200000 Yaba tablets. 5 persons carrying the drugs consignment were also arrested during the operation. According to the police, the value of the seized narcotics consignment is worth more than Rs 50 crore. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta informed that relentless efforts are being made to unearth the drug cartels and reiterated strong action against those involved in the illegal trade.
