Violence affected people of Manipur’s Jiribam take refuge in Assam’s Cachar dist: CM HImanta Biswa Sarma instructs officials to ensure proper humanitarian aid

The Assam Chief Minister chaired an all important meeting through video conferencing with the DC and SP of Cachar.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today instructed officials in the Cachar district administration to make elaborate arrangements for those individuals who have fled from violence-hit Manipur’s Jiribam district and taken shelter in the Assam district.
To ensure that there is swift action into the matter, Chief Minister Sarma reviewed the present situation arising out of affected people seeking refuge in Cachar district bordering Jiribam in Manipur.
The Assam Chief Minister chaired an all important meeting through video conferencing with the DC and SP of Cachar.
The Assam Chief Minister’s Office in a post X shared details of the meeting and posted, “HCM Dr @himantabiswa held a Video Conference with @dccachar and SP @cacharpolice on the recent incidents in Jiribam, Manipur and instructed them to ensure peace and tranquility is maintained in Cachar. HCM instructed officials to ensure that all humanitarian aid is provided to the people who have taken refuge in the district. @CSAssam_ and @DGPAssamPolice and other officials were also present in the meeting.”

Worth mentioning, Assam Police personnel have been patrolling along National Highway No. 37 to monitor movements closely in the wake of disturbances in Manipur’s Jiribam district.
Inputs suggest that nearly 1700 persons from Jiribam have taken refuge in Cachar district so far.
