UPSE CSE 2022: Assam’s Mayur Hazarika secures 5th position, creates history, becomes first ever from NE to secure such high rank

A happy and momentous day for Assam. Mayur Hazarika, a doctor by profession from Tezpur secured the 5th position among the 933 candidates from across India who had cleared UPSC Civil Services (Mains) Examination 2022. Having secured the 5th All India Rank, Mayur became the first-ever candidate from the Northeast to secure such a high rank in the UPSC CSE examination.

Mayur Hazarika is a doctor with National Health Mission (NHM), Assam.

An ex-Bosconian, Mayur served at Jakhalabandha in Nagaon as part of his rural posting.

He did his MBBS from Gauhati Medical College and Hospital.

“I did self-study. I did join some online classes too. I hope that more students from Assam come forward, take the exams and crack,” Mayur said adding “I would be happy to serve in whatever service I get. Assam will always be in my heart”.

The results of the UPSC Civil Services (Mains) Examination 2022 were released today.

Besides, Mayur Hazarika, the other candidates who brought glory to the state are Idul Ahmed, Anjali Bhardwaj, Nivedita Das, Diksha Langthasa and Manas Jyoti Das. Idul Ahmed secured 298th position, Manas Jyoti secured 881, Nivedita Das secured 848th position, Anjali Bhardwaj secured 271st position, and Diksha Langthasa secured 664th position.

14 other candidates from other Northeastern states have also cracked the examination bringing glory to the entire region.
