Union Minister of State for Power and Heavy Industries, Krishan Pal Gurjar, visited NHPC’s 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Project in Assam’s Gerukamukh on May 11 and 12.
During the visit, the Union Minister, along with MLA, Likabali (Ar.P.), and Sh Kardo Nyigyor, inaugurated a 400 KV Pothead Yard (connected to Biswanath Chariali HVDC Sub-Stn through 400 KV Transmission Lines for power evacuation).
The power minister along with other dignitaries visited various sites of the project and took stock of the progress of ongoing construction activities.
Meanwhile, Vipin Gupta, ED-SLHEP, briefed about the progress in construction activities of the project.
Representatives of major works contractors engaged in the project were also briefed about the quantum of construction activities at individual fronts.
Later on, the Minister also took part in a review meeting with senior officials of NHPC. The minister was given a brief presentation on the status of work by HOP, Subansiri Lower H.E. Project.
The power minister appreciated the hard work of the project team and the progress achieved so far.
He appealed to everyone to put their best efforts into completing this prestigious project on time, as this project will certainly boost the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the region.
He also stressed the importance of focusing on the importance of renewable energy for the development of the nation.
Besides, the power minister also discussed in detail the other projects allocated to NHPC in Subansiri Basin, viz., Subansiri Middle HEP (Kamle) and Subansiri Upper HEP, and directed NHPC to initiate immediate activities in those upcoming projects.
Gurjar assured all support and cooperation from the government of India.
