UNICEF Assam and CDPS Announces Award for Journalists in Excellence in Reporting on Children’s Issues on Jan 24, 2025

The awards are open to journalists aged 25 to 35, working in print, electronic, or digital media in Assam.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Assam and the Centre for Development and Peace Studies (CDPS) have announced the UNICEF-CDPS Media Awards 2025 to recognise exceptional journalists in Assam who have made significant contributions to raising awareness and understanding of critical children’s issues.
The awards will highlight impactful journalism in the following areas:
• Addressing Child Marriage
• Positive Impacts of Accessing Social Protection Schemes on Continuity of Education for Girls (powerful stories of individuals)
• Influencers who are Addressing Harmful Societal Norms that impact children in their Communities
The awards are open to journalists aged 25 to 35, working in print, electronic, or digital media in Assam. Freelancers are also eligible, provided they submit proof of published work. Government employees and individuals affiliated with political parties are not eligible.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Journalists aged 25-35 residing in Assam.
- Applicants must work in print, electronic, or digital media.
- Employees of Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous Bodies, Boards, Corporations, and Councils are not eligible.
- Political party affiliation disqualifies applicants
- Affiliation with any political party will disqualify an applicant.
Application Requirements:
• A comprehensive Curriculum Vitae
• A portfolio including a minimum of five published works in television, print or digital media on issues related to children, especially on the themes mentioned above. The publication/telecast of the samples submitted must be between 1 January 2023 – till date.
• Photocopy of a valid Media House/DIPR Assam-issued ID card
• Freelancers must provide proof of their published works.
Selection Process:
A distinguished Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on depth, originality, creativity, professional credentials, and the impact of the journalist’s work. Successful applicants will be notified by email or phone and must confirm their acceptance within a week of the announcement.
