In a sensational incident, the United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I) detained a youth in one of its camps claiming him to be an Assam Police spy.

In a video sent to group channel New Live, the detained person who is identified as one Sanjib Sarma was seen confessing to being a police spy.

The ULFA-I has alleged the Sanjib Sarma has been sent as a spy by the police to recover crucial documents from the ULFA-I independent camp.

In the video, Sarma stated that he hails from Baihata Chariali near Guwahati and his brother Apurba Kumar Sarma who was a para commando lost his life in an ambush by militants in Manipur some months back.

The youth also claimed that a senior police official told him the ULFA was behind the ambush attack.

He further continued to say that he was recruited as a spy by the police to infiltrate the ULFA-independent ranks. Sarma was also given special training for the purpose and was told to identify and assassinate the ULFA leaders behind the Manipur attack.

The youth also claimed that he was promised a reward of one crore by the senior police officer if he completes the mission.

He further said that he was given a special password or code number that he could use to get released in case he is caught by the police or the army.

Sarma also added in the video that bomb attacks were probably being planned on ULFA-I camps in 2023.
