TMC’s Abhishek Banerjee terms ‘journalist manhandling’ in Guwahati as ‘useless talk’
A video journalist was allegedly manhandled by West Bengal police personnel and members of the TMC media cell.
Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday was allegedly heard terming the ‘journalist manhandling’ issue as ‘useless talks’.
Banerjee further accused the journalist of turning a non-issue into an issue.
Saying that the situation was unfortunate, the TMC leader defended the security personnel in a rather surprising manner stating that everyone has constraints while performing their duties.
However, Abhishek Banerjee tendered his unconditional apology for the untoward incident.
When asked about his response to his security personnel allegedly threatening a journalist of a different situation after 3 years in Assam, Abhishek Banerjee left it to the judgment, wisdom, and intellect of the people to decide who will be in power.
Earlier in the day, journalists in Guwahati boycotted a Trinamool Congress event, after security personnel accompanying TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee allegedly misbehaved with them.
The situation turned ugly when a video journalist was allegedly manhandled by West Bengal police personnel and members of the TMC media cell.
The video journalist alleged that he was dragged and pushed while he tried to mount his camera on a tripod to cover the proceedings of the TMC event at the ITA Centre in Machkhowa.
Not only this, the security personnel of Abhishek Banerjee allegedly went to the extent of threatening a female journalist and said that things will not be the same after 3 years.
