Suman Adhikari, Andrea Kevichusa takes home 3 Filmfare awards

Two young artistes from the Northeast have brought laurels to the region. Nagaland actress Andrea Kevichusa, who featured in the movie ‘Anek’ alongside Ayushmann Khurrana, won in the “Best Debut Actor Female” category at the 68th Filmfare Awards held in Mumbai last night.

Sharing the proud moment on her Instagram stories, Andrea shared a picture of her posing with the award from the award night with the caption, “Extremely overwhelmed and grateful.”

The picture also features Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Manish Paul, who hosted the event last night.

Adrea Kevichusa played the role of ‘Aido’ in Anek, directed by noted filmmaker Anubhav Sinha. The film was released in May last year.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to twitter and share a congratulatory message for Adrea.

“Congratulations to Andrea Kevichusa on being awarded Best Debut (Female) for her role as Aido in Anek at the 68th Hyundai @filmfare Awards 2023 with @maha_tourism. Happy to know that her hard work and talent have been recognized. I wish her the best for all her future endeavours.” Neiphiu Rio wrote.

Suman Adhikari from Assam won the Filmfare award in two categories> Suman won Filmfare for ‘Best Story’ and ‘Best Screenplay’ for the movie ‘Badhaai Do’, starring Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar.

Suman won the Best Story award for Badhai Do along with Akshat Ghildiyal and the Best Screenplay award along with Akshat Ghildiyal and Harshavardhan Kulkarni.

Earlier, Suman Adhikari had won a Filmfare award for his short film “Sorry Bhaisab.”

He was also nominated at IIFA for Best Screenplay for Badhaai Do.

Suman Adhikary hails from Barpeta and is now working as a Senior Creative Director at FCB Ulka. He had worked in various top-notch advertising agencies such as Ogilvy, Leo Burnett, DDB Mudra, and McCann, holding various creative leadership roles.

Suman Adhikary had also written the dialogues for ‘Junglee.’ He had also directed several TV commercials and produced content for Sony Television Channel.

Harshavardhan Kulkarni’s Badhaai Do was among the big winners at the film festival. The movie received awards in six different categories.
