Besides the skyrocketing price of petrol, diesel, vegetables and other essentials, now the increasing price of Mustard oil has breaking all records in Assam.
The skyrocketing price of these essentials has sparked inflation fears among the ordinary people.
Mustard oil has gone up in price from Rs. 5 to Rs. 35 costing between Rs 220 and Rs 255.
Sunflower brand of mustard oil increased by Rs. 20 per litre, following the Dhara brand (Rs. 15 per litre), the Gokul brand (Rs. 10 per litre) and the Anupam and Engine brands increased by Rs. 6 per litre.
Not just mustard oil, but also other edible oils such as soyabean oil, rice bran, vegetable oil, and plum oil are at all-time highs.
Speaking to our sister channel News Live, a retailer in Dibrugarh said that few days ago the price of the mustard oil was Rs. 142, however, today it stands at Rs 148 at the wholesale rate.
The price of mustard oil has gone up by Rs. 7-8 while the price of refined oil went up by Rs. 5 respectively.
Reacting to the ongoing price hike of mustard oil a consumer said , “I bought a litre of mustard oil for Rs. 150 yesterday, but it went to Rs. 160 the next day. If this way the price goes up, we the middle-class people won’t be able to survive. We request the Assam food and civil supply Minister to look into the matter and come up with a solution as soon as possible.”
