Sigh of relief! Mobile connectivity restored in Dima Hasao

The Maibang tunnel has also been cleared and the road connectivity from Haflong to Jatinga has been restored.

The mobile connectivity in Assam’s Dima Hasao has been restored in the area and airdropping of essential food items will begin from today.

This was informed by Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed to Northeast Live Editor in Chief Wasbir Hussain.

While restoring railway connectivity in the district may take over a month’s time, authorities are working round to clock to ensure that road connectivity is restored in the next 48 hours.

The Maibang tunnel has also been cleared and the road connectivity from Haflong to Jatinga has been restored.

Meanwhile, an AN-32 aircraft carrying relief and essential items for Dima Hasao landed at the Silchar airport a short while ago. Relief and essential items will now be loaded in choppers and airdropped in Haflong later in the day.

It may be mentioned that Dima Hasao has been the worst affected by the floods and landslides with the district totally cut off from the rest of Assam for over 72 hours now.

Earlier in the day, the entire telecom network in Dima Hasao collapsed along with the railway and road connectivity making the situation even more precarious than before.
